I just want to congratulate and thank you on the great job you performed as LAMECA volunteers at the Festival de la Familia last Sunday, April 29th. We had a great time, lots of fun and everything workout perfectly. Special thanks to Nicole and Oscar for their fabulous performance and for helping us in reaching out to the community. Roberto, we appreciate your assistance in designing the flyer. It looks fantastic. Tony and Marta you guys are real troopers! Pete and Rafa you made it happen. Evelyn and Denise what can I say about you? You made this event so much fun and made everything look so easy.

LAMECA Receives a Grant for Arts Education

On Monday, October 24, 2011, LAMECA was officially confirmed for inclusion on the arts provider roster that the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission will provide to representatives of Sacramento City Unified and Twin Rivers Unified School Districts. Program scheduling begins the week of November 14, 2011. As one of the Any Given Child arts providers for 2011-12, LAMECA will provide assemblies and workshops to students in the Greater Sacramento Area – 54,000 students.
Any Given Child is a program developed by the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in the Washington D.C., and its main mission is to bring access and equity to arts education during the school day for K-8 students. Any Given Child Sacramento was launched during the school year 2010-2011 and began its pilot year of arts programming in the schools through its partnership between the Kennedy Center and Mayor Kevin Johnson’s For Arts Sake Initiative. Latin American Magic an Educational and Cultural Association (LAMECA) is a nonprofit formed by several dance and music lovers who want to provide Latin music and dance educational opportunities to area students. LAMECA Participates in Festival de la Familia

Festival de la Familia LAMECA

LAMECA volunteers went big at Festival de la Familia this year, not just hosting an information table but providing DJ music and children's dance lessons and demonstrations. The annual Festival, held on Sunday, April 29, attracts thousands of people hungry to experience the variety of Latin cultures on display. This year, LAMECA collaborated with dance instructors Nicole Lazo and Oscar Castaneda to provide a dance demonstration and dance lessons to children attending the festival.
